Chesterfield

Now produced by Phillip Morris USA, the Chesterfield brand of cigarettes hit the market as one of the mot popular brands of cigarettes. This is because of their low cost and great use of technology in development of the brand. Being seen smoking Chesterfield cigarettes were many popular television stars and, more importantly, soldiers coming home from war. Seen as heroes, these men catapulted the Chesterfield cigarette brand into “stardom” After the Second World War, the advertisements for Chesterfield cigarette brands stated that they “satisfied”. Due to the amount of celebrities smoking Chesterfield in the advertisements, the Chesterfield brand became the top-selling brand in the United States. The extra-long cigarettes that became popular in the early 1960’s were produced by every cigarette maker in the industry. The Chesterfield brand, however, was marked with the new tag – the 101’s. Unknown to the producer at the time, this “trend” in naming varieties of cigarette styles would carry over into the industry indefinitely. Seen as a representation of the “true American spirit and the finest American blend”, the Chesterfield cigarette brand is still very popular in the United States and is still offered at a reasonably priced cost.
