The brand of Kent cigarettes, including Kent Premium Lights, Kent 1mg Lights and Kent Super Lights was introduced in 1952. The company, P. Lorillard registered in Ettelbruck had taken over the production of the brand of cigarettes and built a new production factory in order to manufacture Kent brand cigarettes exclusively. With over 95% of its production being exported to Italy, France and Benelux it was one of the most modern European plants in the world during the 1960s. In 1972, expanding operations, the Ettelbruck plant exported to the United States and Eurpoe. From a mere one plant location , the Kent cigarette brand sole over one billion units annually. Todday, Kent cigarettes can be purchased in over seventy countries world wide. In Russia, where it is the top selling brand of the premium markets, every fourth purchase made of cigarettes is of the premium Kent brand. British American Tabacco, now the owner of the Kent brand of cigarettes had signed a ten year licensing agreement with a company they later purchased, making them a very powerful conglomerate. The strongest selling point of a Kent cigarette was its advanced filtering system. Attracting the healthy smoker, these cigarettes are positioned in the market as a mild, smooth, easy to smoke cigarette.
